Academic Year 2015-2016

Welcome to our Information Systems and Informatics (ISI) Program website. ISI program is one of few interdisciplinary programs on the CUNY College of Staten Island campus, through a partnership between the Computer Science Department and the Marketing Department in the School of Business.

Our newly designed curriculum offers a unique opportunity to develop knowledge and skill sets from the computing science, information and data science, and the business domain knowledge. As you navigate through the website, you will find the programs strengths coming from the combination of excellence in research, outstanding teaching and academic programs. Information Systems program has existed in the past but in the fast changing technology driven economy, the curriculum needed necessary updates to reflect the business needs and requirements.

The new program emphasizes the applied nature of the information systems, namely Informatics, since the information systems based on its computer, communication and information technology advances play a critical role in daily operational activities in almost all domain areas. The new program offers two different concentration areas. Students can specialize in either information management or in the application development. The knowledge and skills in IT management and/or IT development in combination with the business domain knowledge will be an ideal combination for the next generation workforce.

As a new discipline, ISI program needs to grow. We will have the following as our top priority areas:

We will focus on recruiting new students to the ISI major;
We will ensure to keep abreast with the quality and content of curriculum required of the industry needs and best practices, as well as of the academic accreditation bodies.
We will make efforts to forge important business partnerships to open training and career opportunities for our students.
Our exciting journey has started and we would like you to be part of it. We would like to engage you, regardless you are a prospective student, an alum, a business partner or a government partner. You are always welcome to contact and visit us. We can be reached at or Or please give us a call at 718-982-2931.
