Welcome a new ISI Instructor

Welcome our new ISI instructor Senaka Senaviratne who joined us this summer. He will teach ISI 205 Data Communication and Infrastructure this fall 2016. He is the very graduate of the Information Systems Program at CSI! Welcome back to CSI. He is currently a VP at Americas Division of Mizuho Bank, Ltd., and has an extensive industry experience that can enrich the classroom discussions. He holds MS degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Research Assistant Position Available

We are looking for a qualified undergraduate who can work as a research assistant for a research project. The research assistant will work with professors Cappellari and Chun for their research project on Privacy.

Design Hackathon for Female students in STEM

The My Social Canvas DesignHackathon will bring together students who are pursuing degrees in STEM and design in an effort to increase awareness, participation and funding for girls in STEM programs across the country.

The final deliverable from each team will be a phone case design, as well as the design of an ecommerce site on which to sell their product.

Proceeds from the sales of the winning team's cases will go back to supporting Girls in STEM.

WHEN: The event will be hosted on October 1, 2016, with the winning team's products launching for Holiday 2016.

Workplace skills are the abilities employees need to successfully accomplish work tasks.

These include: managing time and other resources; understanding, evaluating, and using a variey of information; communicating effectively with others in multiple formats (speaking, writing, listening); understanding relationships among the components of a system; and applying information technology appropriately and effectively

Summer Camp Final Presentations

Dr. Chun held a summer camp on the Open data analytics and Cyber Security to build a Smart City at College of Staten Island, CUNY during two weeks from July 6 to July 19th.

Five high school students and five college assistants were paired to learn the data analysis and cybersecurity. Congratulations on their successful completion and wonderful presentations of their summer camp projects!

Three ISI students are the recipients of the NSF SFS Scholarship!

Congratulations to three ISI major students, Alhaji Nyallay, Maliha Mowla, and Thomas Cosares for the NSF SFS (Scholarship for Service) scholarship awards. Two of these students were also participants for the summer camp for Data Analytics and Cyber Security (Thank you, Alhaji and Maliha,).
